The Seven Steps
1. Stance (الوقفة)
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, straddling the shooting line. Your body should be perpendicular to the target. Weight distributed evenly on both feet.
2. Nocking (تركيب السهم)
Place the arrow on the rest and clip the nock onto the string at the nocking point. The index vane (odd-colored fletching) should point away from the bow.
3. Draw (السحب)
Raise the bow arm toward the target. Using your back muscles (not just your arm), draw the string smoothly to your anchor point. Keep the bow shoulder down.
4. Anchor (الارتكاز)
The string hand must reach a consistent anchor point on your face — typically the corner of the mouth (recurve) or along the jawline (compound). This must be identical every shot.
5. Aim (التصويب)
Align your sight pin with the target center (or use instinctive aiming for barebow). Maintain steady pressure through your back while aiming.
6. Release (الإطلاق)
Relax the fingers smoothly to let the string slip away. Do not open the hand — simply relax. The release should be a surprise, not a conscious decision.
7. Follow-Through (المتابعة)
Hold your form after release. The bow arm stays up, the drawing hand moves back along the face. Watch the arrow hit the target. This ensures a clean release.
